Painting, the expression of ideas and emotions, with the creation of certain aesthetic qualities, in a two-dimensional visual language.  The elements of this language, its shapes, lines, colours, tones, and textures are used in various ways to produce a sensation of volume, space, movement, and light on a flat surface.  These elements are combined into expressive patterns in order to represent real or supernatural phenomena, to interpret a narrative theme, or interpret a narrative theme, or to create wholly abstract visual relationships.

Painting is a medium of expression. What you think will be described in your painting. Earlier cultural traditions-of tribes, religions, guilds, royal courts, and states-largely controlled the craft, form, imagery, and subject matter of painting and determined its function, whether ritualistic, devotional, decorative, entertaining, or educational.  Painters were employed more as skilled artisans than as creative artists.  Later the notion of the fine artist developed in Asia and renaissance Europe.  Prominent painters were afforded the social status of scholars and courtiers; they signed their work, decided its design and often its subject and imagery, and established a more personal, if not always amicable-relationship with their patrons.

The subject matter of painting differs accordingly, and the choices may include landscape, portrait, and still life. Enrolling in painting courses can be a great way to refine skills or experience a brand new medium. Painting also helps in improving hand-eye coordination and a sense of perspective, which can be beneficial for all types of art classes. For many people, painting is a hobby and they take classes for fun. However, a course in painting may also help to build confidence and inspire individuals to take the next step, such as publically exhibiting their work.

In art, the term painting describes both the act and result of the action.  The support for paintings includes such surfaces as walls, paper, canvas, wood, glass, lacquer, pottery, leaf, copper and concrete, and the painting may incorporate multiple other materials including sand, clay, paper, plaster, gold leaf, as well as objects.

Youngsters these days are smart enough to follow their passion as painting has a lot of career opportunities in the field of fine arts. After completion of the course, you may be hired by the museum or art galleries for both private and corporate collection. You can also work in colleges as faculty or run private workshops and classes. You can also be self-employed and work in the areas such as glass painting, tattoo designing, conventional canvas painting, pot painting etc. The job profiles of this field are, Arts administrator, visiting artist, commercial artist, painter, interior designer, wallpapering, art director etc.
